biografical notes
Bruno Pedrosa has transformed himself during a career of over 35 years of art, from one of the greatest Brazilian figurative painters into a painter and sculptor of abstract art who is internationally acclaimed and has collectors in over ten countries worldwide.
It is easy to understand the success and universitality of his work when you know the artist because Pedrosa is a person of both great intellectual and artistic aptitude. His intellectual aptitude is his source of creativity due to the fact that Pedrosa always reasons how and why something or an event happened and it is through his reasoning that he finds inspiration for his works of art.
His artistic aptitude makes Pedrosa a very versatile and innovative artist who expresses himself through words, painting, sculpture in Murano glass, sculpture in bronze and sculptures in other materials. Bruno Pedrosa believes in lyricism, in aesthetics and the capacity of mankind to empathize.
We can define him as a visual poet as his works of art are true poetry made of words, colours and forms. The titles of his works of art reveal to us his sources of inspiration and his thoughts.
Whereas his paintings and sculptures use the abstraction and the methodical work of deconstruction of images to captivate the viewers' mind and invite them to take their own journey of discovery. A journey of contemplation of beauty and reflection where the viewer has the opportunity to optimize the use of two qualities that form the essence of the human being: reason and emotion.
This is the virtue of Pedrosa: his work inspires us to think again and again about our world and our way of life. Not only life as a social entity in which our time, our sentiments and behaviour are determined by our role in society but also life in its primitive form in which nature impregnates the soul of mankind and determines his feelings, behaviour and therefore his being.
